Vase with Flowers

$480

This is a replica from Adolfo Monticelli’s still life “A Vase of Flowers” (1875) as a mark of respect for his painting.
This beautiful still life was purchased by Vincent Van Gogh and today is in his eponymous museum in Amsterdam. Van Gogh was fascinated by the powerful pasty paintings of his contemporary Monticelli, which undoubtedly had a great influence on the development of the firm innovative style of the great Dutchman.
Some artistic details of my work:
1. As an experiment, I wanted to try to convey the relief style of painting Adolfo Monticelli with the help of oil pastel.
2. For convincing pasty, I had to pre-heat the oil pastel on the heating battery and put it on paper in small portions using a palette knife.
3. Monticelli performed still life in the dark manner that was usual for that time, but Vincent Van Gogh brilliantly added to the pasty paints of the Marseilles artist the vivid colors of the Parisian impressionists. Therefore, this replica is made specially brighter and more cheerful.
